He breathes they said

He breathes they said,
and I looked at my child
lying so still, full of tubes
from his arms and nose.
intubated, semi comatose.

in that space
of deafening vacuum,
soundless sound...
calming stillness;
air cleaned post storm.

I fled toward my refuge and rock
seeking guidance, healing hands
for the surgeons' operating,
the nurses attending,
anyone that ever touched him.

And so it was.
in the deep of the abyss
he was saved.
We all were.
