Lilies and Koi

This hot summer's day
invites a stroll by the pool
where lilies spread
on broad leafy beds
and Koi circle below,
glinting and gliding,
slow and cool
as you please.

The shady bank
tempts a picnic
of roast chicken, seed cake
wine and blue cheese.
chocolate, passion-fruit
and pistachio macaroons
additional flavour.

vanilla's no use in this scenario;
it's much hotter in the shade.
